Frequently Asked Questions
If I am offered a job, when is my processing date for a gaming license or work permit badge?
The CGC Licensing Department will contact you to schedule an appointment. Please provide a good contact number; and multiple if necessary. If we are unable to contact you, your processing date will be delayed.
Can I attend processing if I don’t have all required documents (birth certificate, SS card, ID, etc.)?
The CGC Licensing Department will schedule your processing date but the release of your badge may be delayed if you do not provide all required documents. You will have fourteen (14) business days to provide those documents to complete your processing.
When do I get my badge?
The badge will be released to the Employment Center within one (1) week of your processing date IF you have completed all of the CGC’s processing requirements.
Is the criminal history verification the same as a background check and how long does it take?
The criminal history verification is similar to a background check but is more extensive compared to standard background checks through local agencies and courts. The verification typically takes 1-2 weeks.
What do I list if I don’t remember the arrest/charge/offense, date and disposition?
Be as truthful as possible. List ALL known arrests, charges, offenses and/or convictions (both misdemeanors and felonies). For the date, at least list an approximate year. For the charge, you must list an offense or a brief explanation. For the arresting agency, list the city police department, county sheriff’s office or law enforcement agency (state or federal). For the disposition, list whether you were found “guilty” or “not guilty”.
Can I work with a felony conviction?
No, a felony conviction is an automatic disqualifier when determining suitability. Ask a Resort Representative if there are jobs that do not require a gaming license or work permit.
What if I was charged with a felony offense and I am currently facing prosecution?
The CGC will assist on a case-by-case basis but you must provide documentation concerning your prosecution. Bring all court documents that include the offense, offense date, the arresting agency and next prosecution date. If you have misplaced the documents, you can obtain copies from the court, your bail bondsman or your attorney. Failing to provide all documents will delay the release of your badge.
What if I was found “Not Guilty” for previous felony prosecution(s)?
You MUST bring the court document concerning your final judgment/disposition. The court document should clearly state the completion of your prosecution and disposition. Failing to provide the court document will delay the release of your badge if you are potentially suitable.
What happens if I don’t list all of my charges, omit information or leave the arrest portion blank?
The Background Department determines whether applicants falsify their gaming license/work permit application. If committed, your badge is subject to enforcement action (ex: suspension). BE AS TRUTHFUL AS POSSIBLE to prevent any unnecessary delays or interruptions to your work schedule.
